Anya Taylor-Joy fans have probably been pronouncing her name wrong this entire time

Anya Taylor-Joy fans may be in for a shock as they may have been pronouncing the star’s name wrong all along.

The Hollywood star appeared in a TikTok video alongside Chris Hemsworth introducing the first trailer for Furiosa, part of the Mad Max saga, and now we know exactly how to pronounce her name.

In the trailer, the Last Night in Soho actress introduces herself as Anya Taylor-Joy. Her name is pronounced as ‘Anne-ya’, although some have been pronouncing it as ‘Awn-ya’.

As well as fans finding out the correct pronunciation, they also noticed the star’s “changing accent” as they took to the comments.

“Hahaha Anna’s voice she has done so many accents her accent is changing,” joked one.

Another said: “Is it just me or did Anya just have 5 different accents?”

The 27-year-old was born in Miami and lived her childhood between Argentina and England. Her father is Scottish, born in South America. Her mother hails from Barcelona.

In the film, Anya is set to play Furiosa, the character played by Charlize Theron in 2015’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.

The Thor star will take on the role of a villain, and George Miller will be returning as director.

The star ‘struggles’ to take a selfie on Android phone

Anya has been a hit on social media lately, as a video of her ‘struggling’ to take a selfie on an Android is doing the rounds on X, formerly known as Twitter. We’re guessing she’s team Apple!

The Menu star was in Brazil for at the CCXP convention when the ‘rather awkward’ interaction took place.

In the video, the star can be seen attempting to take a selfie with the side button, however, ends up accidentally locking the screen.

She then asks the fan to unlock it and kindly offers to try it again, which she does. However, unfortunately for the fan it’s once again an epic fail on Taylor-Joy’s side.
